CARE Needs YOU!
CARE has a small group of volunteers that return the calls that come into our voice mail each night. Each of these people covers one day of the week. Several volunteers have left in the last few months for various reasons and the remaining volunteers cannot do extra nights
We need one more volunteer right away, just to keep us functioning, and two more as soon as possible. If we are not able to fill this critical position people will have to wait several days to have their calls returned. We do occasionally get time sensitive calls and cats will suffer for this! Without the CARE CALLERS to make appointments the entire program will shut down! Please consider helping us with this if only for a few months.
*******CARE Callers need to:
- Be very familiar with the CARE Program (preferably used it at least two to three times)
- Have access to the internet and basic computer skills (know how to cut and past and navigate two or more windows) for making appointments.
- Have access to a phone to make calls.
- Be willing to help people find appropriate alternatives if our service is not appropriate. (not solve the problem, just give them some resources) .
- Have one to three hours one day per week to return voice mail calls
We also desperately need help with loaning traps. Trap loaners need:
- A place to store at least four traps at any given time out of the sun and rain. .
- Two to three nights each week (not always the same nights that is up to you) to coordinate pick up and instruct new users on the use of the traps.
- The ability to be reached by phone and return calls within 36 hours.
- Ability to track at least 6 and up to 20 traps and keep up with paperwork so that you know where they all are
- Live in North, West, or Central, Orange County
CARE has a new E-mail Group!
We have created a new Google Group for the users of the CARE Feline Rescue program. Everyone that uses the program will be invited but anyone may request membership as well at http://groups.google.com/group/CAREnews.
This news groups will be used to inform those that care about he welfare of stray and feral cats of the happenings in our area that affect these beautiful animals. We hope to use this for news and event updates, requests for assistance with specific events, information distribution to the cat community and notice of government actions or laws that will effect our cats.
We also hope to find a volunteer to do a periodic newsletter with articles on things like feral colony health and care, how to help make people aware of the cat overpopulation issue and how to deal with those that don't want "your colony" in their back yard.
To keep this an efficient and effective way to communicate with you we have decided to make this announcement Only group. You will not be allowed to post or ask questions of the other members so the traffic will be limited and concise and always on topic.
Anyone interested in being in a second general discussion group for the purpose of sharing ideas, asking for assistance and advice with specific problems or requesting information on resources please e-mail webmaster@Carefelinerescue.org If there are enough users interested we will begin a second group for that purpose.
