Central Florida Adoption Groups
(NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS)

If you are going to find homes for kittens on your own please read carefully the adoption guidelines page.  If you do not want to try it on your own, the following information might help.  If you have kittens that need homes, it is possible that one of the organizations here might take the kittens in or help you find a home while you foster them.

If you cannot contact them by phone you can get information by talking to the organizations in person at their adoption centers. Several of these organizations set up on Saturdays and Sundays at PetSmart and PetCo stores around the area.

DO NOT Bring dogs or cats to the adoption center to surrender! They will not have the means to deal with them there. You should only approach the groups at the adoption center for information on how the organization works and how to contact the proper people for assistance!

Also, remember these groups are NON PROFIT and most of them are staffed completely by individuals that volunteer their time. Please be willing to help them in some way, either financially or with your time,  if you expect them to help you! Also, be patient and persistent. They may not be able to get back to you the same day. They may be over worked and under staffed and lose track of your information so do call back.

Are sanctuaries the answer?

No. Not only is it very costly to build and maintain sanctuaries, but being rounded up and put into facilities is not the best option for the cats.

Sanctuaries are not an easy adjustment for feral cats that are used to the freedom and familiarity of their home turf and the other cats in their colony.

There's a far more effective, cost-efficient, and humane way to help ferals.

So what is the solution?

We recommend trap/neuter/return (TNR) as the most humane and cost effective way to help feral cats.
